New Austin Bar Bodhi’s Hideaway Opens in South Austin | Eater Austin

"A new ’90s beach–themed bar opened in Stinson Yard at 10402 Menchaca Road on June 23. It offers tropical, beach-ready cocktails alongside draft beer and a full bar, plus space on-site for a food truck. The owners chose a name that nods to the Buddhist idea of enlightenment and to the bar’s tucked-away location off busy Menchaca Road, and lean into Point Break iconography—Patrick Swayze’s character appears in the logo and the Facebook banner depicts a scene between Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves) and the film’s surfer character. Co-owner David Pearce says the goal is a laid-back beach vibe that transports guests to a world of sea, surf, and good vibes in South Austin. This is Pearce and Ryan Thomas’s second project (they opened South Austin Beer Garden in 2019), and the spot joins a growing Menchaca Road drinking corridor; hours are Monday–Thursday 4 p.m.–2 a.m. and Friday–Sunday noon–2 a.m." - Erin Russell
