"At the Fourth Street location of Peet’s Coffee in Berkeley, workers have filed to unionize and, if successful, would join locations at Southside Berkeley, Temescal, and Piedmont. Their stated goals include higher wages, improved training, longer breaks, and more control over schedules; in a press release they alleged they 'face understaffing, lack of training, work intensification, and wage stagnation, leading to deteriorating service.' A Peet’s spokesperson said workers are covered under California’s $20 fast-food minimum wage law, that Berkeley locations are 'at nearly full staffing,' and that the company plans to 'respect' the National Labor Relations Board process." - Justine Jones
