"Having followed Chef Issac Perlman—also known as Chef IP—during a decade cooking in high-end Miami homes, I’m glad he’s brought his food to the masses with Perl by Chef IP in North Miami Beach (2420 Northeast Miami Gardens Drive). He blends Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine into a mix of appetizers, crudos, and entrees, including citrus-cured grouper carpaccio made with sancho pepper, lime, and micro cilantro; a baby gem Caesar topped with wasabi-truffle dressing, parmesan, candied pecans, and togarashi; crispy maitake mushroom with charred leek remoulade, black garlic, and yuzu vinaigrette; and Alaskan halibut with saffron-yuzu beurre blanc. The 2,000-square-foot space, which debuted in December 2020, was designed by architect Ari Skral and interior design team Urban Robot and features high ceilings, asymmetrical woodwork, and modern, sleek industrial finishes; an expansive outdoor patio wraps around the restaurant offering indoor and outdoor seating, and there is a 5,000-square-foot rooftop. Born from a desire to revive Miami’s fine-casual dining scene, the menu applies Chef IP’s signature touch to elevate everyday cuisine; Perl is open Monday–Wednesday 11:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. and 5:30–9:30 p.m., Thursday–Saturday 11:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. and 5:30–10:30 p.m., and Sundays 11:30 a.m.–4 p.m., with reservations available at 786-654-2854." - Olee Fowler
