"Opened in a coveted Brookline Village storefront at 195 Washington St., this new Japanese izakaya is running a substantial preview menu ahead of a possible grand opening. The sizable space—complete with a patio and previously home to a burger restaurant that closed about a year after opening—offers everything from sushi and ramen to izakaya-style, drink-friendly small plates such as yakitori, kushiyaki, dumplings, and tempura, plus heartier entrees like chicken yakisoba and grilled salmon with seasonal vegetables. The operation reportedly has ties to New Sushi (Allston and Boston) and the all-you-can-eat Nijiya Sushi in Medford. Beer, sake, and other alcoholic options will be available once the full opening begins. Current hours are Monday–Thursday 11:00 a.m.–9:30 p.m., Friday–Saturday 11:30 a.m.–10:30 p.m., and Sunday noon–10:00 p.m., with weekday lunch specials between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal
