"After it closed in February, I noted that Hank's—originally opened in 2018 by Bruce and Eric Bromberg as a casual, family-friendly spot known for TVs, breakfast items, shakes, salads and what many considered one of LA’s best burgers—reopened on April 3, 2024 under Tancredi DeLuca, who converted the space into a bistro with subtle but significant tweaks. The interior largely remains the same, but DeLuca opened the French doors to merge inside and outside for sunnier, more comfortable dining; the restaurant (named after Rick Caruso’s father) sits in Palisades Village, part of Caruso’s developments. The menu has broadened beyond its burger-centric past to include grilled cheese and tomato soup, herb-roasted Jidori chicken, steak frites, a vegetarian burger, French onion soup, and spinach artichoke dip, with brunch to be added in the coming weeks. DeLuca also stepped up the cocktail program with multiple spritzes, a raspberry espresso martini and a Japanese-gin-and-grapes riff, is favoring wines from New Zealand, France and California over Italian labels, and will offer four rotating beers on tap including Allagash White; hours are Monday–Friday 11:30 a.m.–9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.–10 p.m., and Sunday until 9 p.m." - Mona Holmes
