"A Williamsburg bar and screening room that began as a video rental store in 2003 and added a bar and screening room in 2012, Videology Bar & Cinema at 308 Bedford Ave. became, over nearly 15 years, a community spot for pop-culture nerds in NYC. I remember its themed trivia and bingo nights for 30 Rock, Stranger Things, and American Horror Story, plus sing-along movie nights, midnight movies, and rowdy drinking-game screenings — including a recent Scream night where patrons drank for every horror trope and self-aware joke. The drinks are strong and the menu leans on bar snacks like hot dogs, wings, and popcorn to match the cinematic programming, while the store continued to offer movie rentals from a DVD collection of more than 17,000 titles. After programmer Forrest Cardamenis tweeted about the impending closure, critics and patrons posted eulogies for this unofficial film-Twitter bar, which is set to close after business on October 27 with its annual Halloween costume party." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
