"I've learned that Blackbird Izakaya is set to take over the space at 1221 West 11th Street, with chef Billy Kin staffing up and promising what he bills as Houston’s first “true izakaya.” No official menu has been announced and it’s unclear whether the space will get a major revamp, but I’ve seen Instagram previews of decadent potential offerings — a foie gras slider called “The Duckadent,” yakitori grilled over binchotan charcoal, and uni-topped pasta — and the restaurant looks set to open on August 14." - Amy McCarthy
