"Set to open at 10306 Venice Boulevard in the former home of Jaffain Palms, Iron Teapot is the dim sum project of Sally Chan, who says the pandemic ushered in a nostalgia for cramming into noisy San Gabriel Valley dim sum rooms and hopes to recreate an outdoor Cantonese vibe that plays Canto pop from the ’80s–2000s. Chan has brought on chef Hoi Chan (who has worked at Sea Harbour and Bao) to prepare a bounty of dim sum specialties — steamed buns, har gow, siu mai — with occasional twists like truffle oil and a more robust vegan menu. The concept emphasizes freshly steamed, authentic dim sum served outdoors with a Pacific sea breeze, and will offer boba, beer, wine and a full bar for patio sipping; a surprise opening is slated for next week though no formal timeframe has been announced." - Farley Elliott
