"A long-standing Houston institution and community anchor in the city’s Latino neighborhoods that extends charitable work into the holidays by supporting tuition needs of lower-income children and incorporating community-made touches into its decor; the restaurant is decorated at Christmas with ornaments handmade by students at a nearby predominantly Latino elementary and middle school, and recent holiday support has included donations around $25,000 in December. Justin Solomon, the director of operations, emphasizes the intentional, ongoing support: “There are a lot of underprivileged young Hispanic students that needed help and over there on the East End,” he says. “And at Our Lady of Guadalupe, they know that at any point, if they need anything, they can reach out to us, and we’re going to do everything that we can to help out.”" - Kayla Stewart
