"When Oak Park finally opened up its liquor license applications in 2015, after a decades-long ban, the city was methodical and purposeful about granting permits. One lucky qualifier was Hansen’s Hall on Nine Mile Road just west of the Ferndale border. In a former auto service center, the bar’s minimalist seating is warmed up with gobs of plants and a massive tropical mural. Hansen’s offers a solid beer list with neighborhood favorites like Upland Champagne Velvet and Short’s Soft Parade, a few select cocktails, and a couple of rotating wines — but no food. No worries, though, because the new Pie Sci Pizza location is right next door!" - Mickey Lyons
