"A beloved Chinatown-International District Cambodian restaurant that operated for 30 years is attempting a comeback after closing in May 2018. Opened in 1987 by Sam Ung and passed on to his three daughters — Dawn, Diane, and Darlene — when he retired in 2013, it was the city’s only Cambodian restaurant and served as an important community hub. The closure followed a traumatic brain injury suffered by Dawn’s son Devin in fall 2017, which affected Dawn’s finances and ability to manage the business. The owners are raising funds via Indiegogo to reopen, hoping to relaunch in January in a new space with a smaller menu carrying favorites from the original restaurant. So far the campaign has raised $5,230 of a flexible $30,000 goal, and the relaunch is being supported by the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority and the Office of Economic Development." - Megan Hill
