"A residency inside the A-frame space that housed Best Bet Pizzeria in Culver City, this neighborhood offshoot of Broken Spanish brings approachable modern Mexican American fare with the same quality and passion but a community-centric approach to food and drinks. Beginning in October and slated through year’s end with hopes to continue, the menu revives signatures like the porchetta-like, horseshoe-shaped chicharrón torn off morsel by morsel with cónico azul corn tortillas and refried lentils seasoned with epazote and enriched with quesillo. An in-house nixtamal program uses landrace corn from Masienda, specifically cónico azul, and new plates such as carrot habanero aguachile, guisado de lengua, and fideos verdes join a full bar, aiming to be the kind of place people return to on a weeknight as readily as for special occasions." - Bill Esparza
