"A former laundromat with a storied history as a Mexican, Cantonese, and dinner-focused bar and grill, this legendary South Bay restaurant has, since 2018, become a daily seaside breakfast gathering spot with some of the friendliest service in Los Angeles and a south-facing patio that’s the best place to see-and-be seen. It’s also become a regular weekend brunch haunt for our family, where servers are quick to bring high chairs and crayons for kids and portions are big enough that takeout boxes seem prerequisite. Expect a classic American brunch with a touch of California beach flair: a righteous breakfast burrito whose loose construction is offset by a filling of both bacon and sausage, white cheddar and Havarti, and crispy potatoes, all slathered with sour cream, pico de gallo, salsa verde, and salsa roja so every bite feels like catching a wave; the locally famous white corn scramble, simple but easy to love, with fresh kernels studding a wabi-sabi pile of scrambled eggs and Havarti that’s best spooned over wide slices of buttery toast; Eggs Hermosa, essentially eggs Benedict with garlic-covered tomato, spinach, and a slice of Canadian bacon where acidity and a heady punch of garlic balance the softened spinach; and a chicken Caesar wrap that ignores LA’s finely chopped trend but still does the job with larger bites of chicken breast and a dense, garlicky dressing. Don’t let the gaggle at the host stand scare you off—tables turn quickly and waits are rarely more than a few minutes." - Matthew Kang
