"A sign for Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken had been erected at the door of a former Foot Locker at 1430 Broadway. This is the first Bay Area location of the popular national chain, which was founded in Mason, Tennessee, about 60 years ago. Raehan Qureshi, the "Exclusive California Area Developer of 'Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken' Restaurants" wrote in to Eater SF to say that the downtown Oakland spot is open for delivery and takeout of its Memphis-style fried chicken menu, which uses wet batter that registers at "a seven out of 10 in terms of heat," Qureshi tells the SF Chronicle, making Gus’s items more "bearable" for some than the Nashville style’s oft-painful heat." - Eve Batey
