Bar Bookstores Are a Hit Genre in the Bay Area
"I found a cocktail bar with a wood-walled patio (opened in 2019) whose shelves are stocked with books recommended by writers such as Samin Nosrat, Michael Pollan, Pico Iyer, and Patti Smith—all for sale—and where the most popular cocktail, the Furtive Glance, mixes mezcal, melon liqueur, lime juice, and mint leaves. The menu pairs unexpected bites with drinks, from Japanese-accented tater tots (katsu sauce, bonito flakes, furikake, garlic aioli) and beet “poke” with kelp, tamari, and sesame to asparagus pesto pasta, pulled pork sandwiches, and burgers." - Sharon McDonnell
