"A small Upper West Side café that opened in 1976 and slowly built a devoted breakfast-and-dessert clientele; it was best known for sandwiches and Italian pastries like sfogliatella and cannoli and became a regular hideout for John Lennon and Yoko Ono, who sat in the back garden, socialized quietly with staff, and ate there the morning of Lennon’s murder. The shop closed after a rent-driven landlord change in 2008, and its owners later passed away." - The Editors
