"Housed in an old ironmonger's shop, the in-house restaurant Briar is a tiny, friendly neighbourhood spot with room for just 18 diners, run by a cheerful, chatty team and led by chef Sam Lomas. The small plates are outstanding — genuinely one of the best meals I’ve had at a boutique UK hotspot this year — celebrating in-season Somerset grains, flora and fauna, from glazed beef cheek to Westcombe cheddar gougères and tahini yoghurt with roasted aubergine and za'atar crisps. The Chardonnay was particularly excellent."
