Cwm Connell, Pembrokeshire, UK - Explore & Book

"“You made it in good time", Emma warmly greets us by the laundry room where she's sorting her homegrown dahlias to display in the cottages. Though at times the journey felt like an endless warren of country lanes, farm tracks and suspiciously familiar signs, we did at last arrive at Cwm Connell; tucked away in a rural corner of Pembrokeshire National Park, between the pretty towns of Newport and Cardigan, a short walk from the sea with barely a neighbour in sight. Once the site of a working farm, the old stone stables have been reincarnated as 7 cosy cottages, each one lovingly designed by Emma. Vaulted ceilings, original beams, exposed stone and wooden shutters invited us in; windows here, there and everywhere flood the rooms with daylight, but by evening soft lamps, velvet sofas and crackling wood burners set an irresistibly snuggly tone. Looking out from our private terrace onto surrounding fields and a little garden blooming with flowers, the sounds of nature were all that broke the stillness. We spent our days walking the coast path, spotting wildlife, discovering hidden bays and strolling through tiny towns. As evening set in we headed to the hot tub and sauna for some private R&R - save for some nosy cows next door - before curling up in front of the fire. This place is remote, but the payoff for veering away from the beaten track is an unrivalled beauty, undisturbed quiet and just a hint of smugness at unearthing a true hidden gem. Highs Beautiful coastal location with a woodland walk leading from the garden gate to the secluded Ceibwr Cove The cottages are incredibly inviting, striking the perfect balance of spacious and cosy Dogs are encouraged and well catered for; there's a wash station, tags with the cottages' contacts on, even their own fenced paddock to run around in The hot tub and sauna are the perfect tonic for achy muscles after long walks along the coast path Emma and Alex are warm and welcoming hosts, on hand whenever you need them Lows The location is so remote it confuses the Sat Nav (but detailed directions are provided) and the nearest shops and restaurants are a 15-minute drive away - a car is essential The hot tub and sauna are shared between the cottages, but booked by the hour so you'll have it to yourself A week minimum stay in July and August Ceibwr Cove is rocky and tricky to swim from. Sandy beaches are a short drive away No extra beds" - Alice Tegg
