"Butterworth's is an all-day cafe that can take you from a decent flat white in the morning to greasy frites and a glass of red in the evening. The vintage-feeling interior is a welcome contrast to some of DC’s more sterile coffee shops, and the Scottish Highlands-esque decor makes it a comfortable place to spend an afternoon at the bar or reading in a wingback chair. It all feels nice enough on weekday afternoons, when a young crowd taps away on laptops to low-volume jazz, but after 5pm the atmosphere pivots from a quiet café to the veritable it spot for the MAGA crowd.
