"Dispensa 63’s chef is from the same family that’s run the nearby Hotel du Lac since the 1950s. The hotel is old-fashioned, but the restaurant is not. Hidden up a narrow cobblestone street in the center of town, it’s one small room with a communal table, a few stools in the windows, and an open kitchen where cooks mess with fava beans and beurre blanc. The menu changes frequently, and it’s tough to pin down. Expect inventive, half-way Italian things like a ginger risotto with carrot and lime, a neat filet with a puddle of potato foam, and chilled, chewy spaghetti tossed with tart passion fruit and fish roe. You’ll see a lot of tourists here—from Brooklyn and Shoreditch, probably—but this isn’t a tourist trap. The food is legitimately fun and delicious.
