"Mestizo is a margarita-filled oasis on the King’s Road that’s all about having a good time. Taco trays stretch over group tables and chilli-infused drinks come with a spice warning, and on a Friday night you might have to repeat your order a couple of times to be heard. Inside the colourful Mexican restaurant, it’s all polo shirts and Made In Chelsea sorts, but once the bowls of barbacoa and warm tortilla pouches arrive at your table, that’s all you’ll be focusing on. The game plan is to come in a group, sit in one of the round booths, and order a couple of taco trays to share. photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat Pause Unmute Food Rundown Barbacoa Tacos The shredded, slow-cooked lamb is meaty, moreish, and a big yes from us. photo credit: Koray Firat Alambre Tacos With soft cubes of grilled beef mixed with crunchy peppers and stringy cheese, this is a good one for the table. photo credit: Koray Firat Baja Style Shrimp Our favourite of the taco fillings, these crispy fried prawns are meaty, salty, and come with a smoky chipotle mayo that we could eat straight. photo credit: Koray Firat Molcajete ‘Mestizo’ A Mestizo special, this comes in a sizzling stone bowl with your choice of filling (we like the octopus). It’s a spicy, saucy, cheesy concoction that should be on your table. Spoon it into the warm tortillas and just know that it’s going to get messy." - Rianne Shlebak
