"Before there was nightclub chicken, there was the humble “going out” chicken. And the place to get it, in New York at least, is still The Fly. The rotisserie-and-wine spot isn’t technically a club, but kind of feels like one from the moment you arrive. It’s walk-in only, which means there are always groups milling around the bar area, clinking glasses of aligoté and competing to poach a six-person booth. It’s still the place to go if you’re in your 30s and want to approximate a night out (it’s loud and dark and there’s a disco ball in the dining room) while not being taxing on your lower back (the experience mostly involves sitting down and eating fries)." - allie conti
