"Before Perfectly Fine opened, the options for hanging out in the Nations at a cool bar with really good food were bleak. Thankfully, this place, with its tattoo shop branding, easy-drinking cocktails, and stupidly good buffalo chicken sandwich showed up. Perfectly Fine is the place to do just that. It’s also the perfect spot to bring the whole family in for a weekend lunch or to map out your evening plans over a “gin drink” with earl grey and orange and a solid burger. Just be aware: If those plans involve hanging out here on a Friday or Saturday night, you’ll have very little elbow room. Food Rundown Dirty Dirty Cocktail With Vodka, Olive, Peperoncino, Asiago Dirty vodka martini fans will love this take, and it has a glorious cheesiness from the asiago. Ordering two is the minimum. Mezcal Drink With Mezcal, Maple, Bulgogi, Elderflower, Lemon Reading the ingredients of this cocktail prompted us to immediately ask, “Y’all put bulgogi marinade in this drink?” They sure did. Yet, it isn’t overly bold. It’s beautifully smokey, heightened in earthiness by the bulgogi, and smoothed out with the florally sweet combo of elderflower and maple. Fried Buffalo Chicken Sandwich Who knows what’s in this homemade hot sauce. Frankly, they can keep their secrets as long as this thing never leaves the menu. It’s the buffalo chicken sandwich dreams are made of, full of funk from the blue cheese and tangy pops from the pickled onions. It comes with a choice of truffle or salt and vinegar fries, but the salt and vinegar should be the choice, no question. You’ll come back again and again just for this. photo credit: Casey Irwin Whiskey Dip Sandwich A fancy-ish sandwich gets a dive bar makeover. (We mean that with affection.) Thin strips of ribeye, cheese, and onions are sandwiched in a soft roll, perfect for smushing and dipping. It won’t win a beauty contest, but it might win a “best beer sidekick” award. Juicy Lucy Burger This is a really good burger, but juicy lucy it ain’t. There’s a good amount of cheese, yes, but the simple fact that the patties aren’t stuffed with it disqualifies the use of this title. We petition the name be changed to smashburger, and all will be well. (Shout out to those cherry peppers.) photo credit: Jacob Forth Mojo Pork Nachos Don't expect an ooey-gooey, decadent, pile of chips with these nachos. That doesn’t mean they aren’t good though. The pork is tasty, despite being a bit dry, and the rest of the stuff like jalapeños, tomatoes, red onions, and salsa bring pops of freshness. They’re even better alongside the tequila or mezcal drink or a crisp, light beer. Pan Seared Pierogies This is a plate to skip. The pierogies, though handmade, have a distinct Mrs. T’s quality without much flavor.
