"Cafe Tamra is one of our favourite places to get a nice brunch-verging-on-lunch in Battersea. The cosy spot, bang in the middle of Northcote Road, is the kind of place we’d take our mum for a nice little catch-up over sumac-spiced chicken shawarma. And that’s exactly what you’ll see here: parents who’ve come to London to visit their firstborn while trying not to question their lifestyle choices, alongside dogs soaking up the sun while their humans split a hefty falafel salad and a stack of pancakes (for balance) on the covered terrace out front. Inside, the whir of the coffee machine and low chatter make getting comfortable a given. Come with an empty stomach, order the particularly excellent chicken shawarma—although most of the food is pretty good—and don’t make plans for the following two hours." - Rianne Shlebak
