"There are just as many Disney costumes as there are business suits at the Fairmont’s twice-yearly afternoon teas. The hotel, which is often full with visiting foreign delegations and secret service details, serves tea with kid-friendly themes, like Frozen and The Nutcracker, geared toward families. The tradition is only offered during the month of December and again in cherry blossom season, and although it’s decidedly playful, there’s enough going on for the grown-ups to be entertained, too. Yes, there’s Champagne, but there’s also some excellent people watching, and you never know which politician, dignitary, or media personality might be making an appearance. Expect to spend around $40 for kids and $90 for adults." - Madeline Weinfield
