Pick A Bagel

Bagel shop · Upper East Side

"If you live in Paris, one of the perks is being able to get amazing croissants at countless boulangeries. For New Yorkers, the same is true, but for bagels. The problem with this location of Pick-A-Bagel on 77th and Lex is that you’re just not sure what you’re going to get. One bagel in a batch might be fresh and chewy, while another might be hard and taste like it’s been sitting out for at least a day. Also, their version of an everything bagel has such sparse seasoning that you’ll wonder if they gave you another kind by mistake. If you live within walking distance of this place, it’ll probably do. You can find all the expected bagel shop things here like smoked fish, house sandwiches, and a bunch of cream cheese varieties. But why risk it? You’re better off spending a little extra time heading to one of the many truly great spots in the city." - Kenny Yang
