"Bar Sovereign is like a simplified tiki hangout minus the complex menu. There’s the typical decor like tropical flora and bottle lights above the bar, but you’ll find that the tchotchkes are a little less tiny figurines and a little more like paintings of skeleton Elvis in a Tennessee flag bandana (which is for sale, by the way). Snag a wobbly and torn bar seat to enjoy your classic rum and coke or ask the friendly bartender to sample a pour from an interesting bottle you haven’t heard of. Pair that with an al pastor tlayuda from the Alebriji pop-up in the back, a crispy disc so delicious you’ll forget about any plans you made the rest of the day." - Ann Walczak
