"On a quiet stretch of 12th Street in the East Village, there’s a little pink bakery, usually with a small tent set up outside. It’s The Pastry Box, and they’re baking up some of the best chocolate chip cookies New York has to offer. They sell two sizes—a more traditional cookie, and an oversized quarter-pound cookie. Both have dynamic textures: wispy thin, with enough resistance for good center chew. They sell a bunch of other stuff, too, like black and white cookies, brownies, and loaf cakes, but the chocolate chip cookies are the main reason to stop by, especially if you’re into the thin variety. photo credit: Emily Schindler" - Will Hartman
