"It’s rare to find a restaurant that can do it all. But at Tosa you can order a prawn tempura sushi roll, a yakitori skewer, and a steaming bowl of udon—and have no notes. That’s right, this little Hammersmith spot is an all-rounder. You’re hit with the smell of meat grilling as soon as you step inside, couples perch on the stools at the counter, deep in conversation while they wait for their chicken liver skewers or grilled salmon teriyaki. Families head to the more spacious back of the restaurant, where pushchairs can be hidden away and the long menu of well-done Japanese classics can be properly studied. We haven’t tried anything here we don’t like, so get involved with all sections of the menu. And whether it’s for a casual lunch or a post-work dinner, know that coming to Tosa is a good decision. Food Rundown Spicy Tuna Inside Out Roll These perfect little rolls are generously filled with spiced, minced tuna. Uncomplicated and excellent. We regretted not ordering more of this. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Tempura Udon A deeply warming, umami-rich broth filled with bouncy, thick udon noodles. The tempura prawns on the side are a nice addition, but the noodles are so good we wouldn’t notice if the prawns were missing. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Salmon Teriyaki A tender salmon fillet covered in a sweet teriyaki sauce, we’re fans of this crispy-skinned dish. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak" - Rianne Shlebak
