"Babel is certainly not new to the winelands’ dining scene, but having opened over a decade ago, it’s since had time to hone its style. The main restaurant at Babylonstoren is a contemporary riff on a Cape Dutch cottage—a bright barn-like space with windows that look out onto the mountains. The goal is to highlight ingredients from the farm, so dishes on the menu are extremely simple: there’s water buffalo mozzarella made in the dairy and spring peas or waterblommetjies (water flowers) harvested in the garden a few steps away. Babel is open for lunch and dinner, but the best time to go is in the evening, when the crowds have dispersed and you can watch the sun set. photo credit: Babel photo credit: Babel photo credit: Babel Pause Unmute" - Mary Holland
