"If you wake up in Trastevere to your stomach growling louder than a Roman gladiator, head to Le Levain for the neighborhood’s best pastries. Their flaky croissants and decadent chocolate tarts are good, but their tortino with ricotta and chocolate takes the cake (literally). Picture a crisp, cakey crust cradling creamy ricotta, studded with dark chocolate and chopped walnuts. And yes it’s just as good as it sounds. They also serve tea, coffee, and savory items like baguette sandwiches and delicious, cheesy pizzette topped with fresh basil.
