"Tortas El Recreo a.k.a. “El Vaquita” is atorteríain Iztacalco that doubles as a culinary dare. Their tortas are piled so high that they seem to defy gravity. They only have two sizes, the one-pound chica and the two-pound mediana, but both can feed a small army. We suggest the torta de pierna al horno, draped in cheese that stretches into long, mozzarella‑style ribbons. Adding to the fun of eating here is the approachable and rowdy energy.
