"If you like period dramas, have an affinity for thin, crispy fries, and are taking a grand/parent who probably owns a signet ring out for a special dinner, Rowley’s Restaurant in St James's is a useful spot to know about. It’s known for its steaks and the chance to sit next to a baron or some minor royal. But we think the unlimited fries and herb butter sauce makes being in the vicinity of Piccadilly Circus worth it. Steaks served on personal burners are tasty but don’t live up to the restaurant’s claim of being “probably the best in London”. Still, the glamorous interiors are impressive in a Downton kind of way, with ornate mirrors that reflect tweed blazers around the room, and gold walls that match the delicious herby piped butter which you should swipe the perfect fries through.
