Rosa - Review - Virginia-Highland - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Rosa, a taco and enchilada spot, has taken over the old DBA Barbecue space in Virginia-Highland. The updated dining room, with its muted greens, feels lowkey in a “waiting for a loan kind” of way. The big patio remains the best thing about this neighborhood spot—an easy hangout for casual group meals and families with kids who slept in the stroller on the way here. The food is average at best, so this isn’t destination dining. But if you're nearby and need a place to split a burrito and sip margaritas while your friend fills you in on the group text drama you missed, it gets the job done. Food Rundown Chicken Tinga Burrito Tomato-y shredded chicken, black beans, lettuce, cheese, and rice. It’s well-sized and does what it’s supposed to do. photo credit: Jacinta Howard Shrimp Taco The grilled shrimp is plump and decently seasoned. You can opt for this on a housemade corn tortilla, but it's far better on the flour tortilla. Chicken Tinga Street-Style Taco The tacos are offered in six different proteins (grouper, carne asanda, al pastor, etc), and all of them could use a flavor boost. But but we like the chicken best. It has the same tomato-chili-flavored shredded chicken that's in the burrito. Enchilada Skip the green sauce on this one—it leans more sour than savory. Otherwise this is fine. It's topped with a zesty pico de gallo. While the brisket is tender, there's no depth of flavor, and the housemade corn tortilla doesn't bring much to the table either." - Jacinta Howard
