Where To Pick Your Own Seafood In Astoria - New York - The Infatuation

"Hamido is in the thick of the restaurant action on Ditmars Blvd., and the sidewalk seating at their old location was our go-to in the area for warm-weather fish-eating, BYOBing and people-watching. The bright new bilevel location down the street doesn’t quite have the same charm, but is much bigger (staff communicate via walkie talkie), which makes it a good choice for large family gatherings. Line up in front of the counter, pick out some bass, branzino or snapper, make sure you get a scallop or 10. Then wait to be directed to a table, where you can order supplementary dishes like gooey eggplant slices, and a supremely refreshing mint lemonade (which we personally like to spike with beer). Hamido’s $19 lunch specials are a worthwhile deal if you live or work nearby." - willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah
