"Crotto Isidoro is a cash-only spot in the hills of Stazzona specializing in meat-heavy polenta, short tagliatelle doused in cheese known as pizzoccheri, and miascia, a local cake (more like bread pudding) filled with nuts and fruits. Those three things are basically all there is on the menu, so do the right thing and order one of each before ending the meal with a coffee digestivo. Lunch or dinner likely won't go over €30, even if you have wine—just don’t expect it to arrive in stemmed glasses, or wine glasses even, as this place is pretty low-key. This spot is frequented by locals, since it’s outside the tourist zone, up the western coast of Lake Como." - Anna Rahmanan
