Violet’s - Review - Richmond - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"For a lowkey date night or a quick drink in the Richmond, Violet’s is a reliable choice. The restaurant and bar has plenty of seating for families and fleece-clad couples taking a load off on a Wednesday. Plus, you can usually snag a table without a reservation or a last-minute seat at the bar. photo credit: Grace Sager As for the food, it's fine. Long-time employees took ownership of the restaurant and reopened in September 2024 with a revamped menu. They added some mostly Peruvian dishes (or what they’re calling “Californian-Latino”) alongside Violet’s original classics like the burger and "Big Ass Chocolate Chip Cookie". Those previous standbys still get the job done, but your attention should belong to the newer, more flavorful adds like buttery clams and chimichurri fries. Or, instead of getting a full meal here, use this spot for an uncrowded Happy Hour with excellent cocktails and a plate of deviled eggs at the bar. Food Rundown Violet’s Burger 2.0 Fans of the bacon, chipotle aioli, and pickles from the Violet’s Burger of yesteryear will be happy to see them again. This burger isn’t going to change your life, but we’d order it again on a need-beef-now kind of night. Sofrito With Clams The clams really soak in the buttery white wine sauce, and you should use the side of grilled bread to sop up the rest. When you’re in the mood for something briny, this is a good option. Chimichurri Fries Excellent straight-cut fries that are pretty light on the chimichurri. We’d be happy coming here and ordering these and a cocktail. Lechon Pulled Pork Sando The meat itself is a little dry, but does the trick if you’re looking for a serviceable sandwich and nothing else." - Julia Chen
