"Chardon's gold-framed Impressionist reproductions, Art Deco chandeliers, and stunning Belle Époque interiors are attractive enough that it might get away with serving mediocre food—but that's not the case here. This French restaurant in the Thompson Houston Hotel serves French classics with cheffy touches and a Texan flair—think deviled blue crab, served in the shell and swathed in a creamy sauce ravigote. The pâté en croûte is also outstanding. Made with Broken Arrow Ranch wild boar and encased in muscadine gelee, local ingredients are transformed into something that tastes like it came over on an Air France flight. Even the free, house-made baguette with creamery butter feels special." - Mai Pham
