Pla-Tu is South Miami’s neighborhood Thai spot - Review - Miami - The Infatuation

"Pla-Tu caters to the South Miami households torn between sushi or Thai, and does both impressively. The hot, aromatic bowls of massaman beef and khao soi are just as wonderful as the scroll of sushi rolls they offer. The walk-in friendly spot has a huge family table in the center of the dining room, and those adorable couple’s booths where you can cozy up with your person over hot broths that fog up your glasses. If you’re overwhelmed by the options, just let the kind server take the reins. If we didn’t listen to ours, we would’ve never known they have a shockingly good key lime pie. This place has range. Food Rundown Moo Nam Tok The spicy pork is a little on the dry side, but the lime juice in the mix makes up for it. photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC Bang Bang Shrimp We’d rather have hundreds of these crispy shrimp lollipops fall from a piñata than candy. They’re sweet, crunchy, and served on sticks so your fingers don’t get sticky. photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC Chicken Khao Soi When this arrived, we thought they had skimped on the chicken. But we just couldn’t see the meaty drumstick submerged inside this sunset orange bowl. Plunge your spoon all the way inside to get the hidden bits of potato and noodles. photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC Massaman Beef There is no such thing as ordering too many hot broths here. This hearty beef curry is worth sweating over in the middle of July. And the avocado slices on top balance out the rich curry. photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC Miami White This fresh wahoo roll will add some coolness to an otherwise rich, spicy, broth-heavy meal. Get it. photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC Thai Iced Tea We don’t love a Thai iced tea that’s too sweet. Thankfully, that doesn’t happen here. The sweetness is subtle, and the drink acts as the perfect refresher between spoonfuls of massaman beef and khao soi. photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC" - Mariana Trabanino
