"When you shell over hundreds of dollars for a tasting menu, you usually get a little souvenir. At Per Se, it’s a container of shortbread cookies; at Yoshino, a napkin that’s hand-dyed by the chef. And at 6 NYC in Carroll Gardens, it’s a full-on photoshoot, which takes place before you even sit down for the $165 meal. photo credit: Britt Lam photo credit: Britt Lam photo credit: Britt Lam Pause Unmute After your close up, you’ll head to a long table facing an open kitchen, and eat seven dainty plates that would be slightly more memorable if they were served in larger portions. Like the tiny bowl of Argentine lamb stew, which feels more suited to a big bowl, a side of bread, and a second helping. The whole experience feels a little random, and you'll walk away wondering what in the world you’ll do with your professional photo, which should appear in your email inbox the next day. We suspect a la carte might be the better option—which you can do at a few tables surrounding the tasting table. That menu is different, and we’ll be back to try a beautiful-looking plate of pork schnitzel. Those seats don’t come with a photoshoot though. Maybe that’s okay." - Willa Moore
