"Kaiju, a slightly hidden bar on the second floor of a food hall, puts more effort into the design of its menu than most spots put into their actual cocktails. Each page is designed to look like a Pokémon card, with a small paragraph dedicated to tasting notes (and a brief bio on the mythical monster each drink is named after). The unabashedly nerdy attention to detail carries over to the cocktails, too. Everyone is greeted with a complimentary sip of the milk punch of the week when they sit down. From there, there are no wrong choices, but we’re partial to the Kappa, a take on a southside that features shiso, cardamom, cucumber, and toasted rice syrup. It tastes like a garden that’s been watered with gin." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
