Bar Whimsy Review - Chelsea - New York - The Infatuation

"We hate to spoil all the surprises that make this loosely Alice in Wonderland-inspired cocktail bar in Chelsea worth visiting, but we want very much to convince you to go. The bar from the Ddobar and Joomak Banjum (RIP) team is hidden remarkably well inside Olly Olly Market. Look for an unmarked door with a keypad lock, then scan around that keypad lock for the code to open it. If you’re having trouble, you can always ask a food hall employee for help, as we have. Cocktails are expensive, at around $25 each, but they're also totally delightful—and each one comes paired with a little something to snack on. Order the Pearl Diver, a salty white negroni under a cloud of coconut foam, served with fish-shaped lime and toasted coconut gummies. We also like the Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters, a crisp strawberry-rhubarb-oolong milk punch in a teacup, which comes with a brown-butter financier flower. Take a date here and you’ll have plenty to talk about, possibly regarding the gold rabbit head mounted on the wall, watching you through his monocle. photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick" - Molly Fitzpatrick
