New Furama Review - Armour Square - Chicago - The Infatuation

"New Furama is a solid option if you’re in need of dim sum at 3pm on a Wednesday (or anytime really, since it’s open seven days a week). This two-story Chinese restaurant is located in a strip mall on the border of Chinatown and Bridgeport, and is the sister restaurant of Furama in Uptown. The first floor functions as a large waiting area—perfect for congregating groups saying lengthy hellos and/or Midwestern goodbyes. Upstairs, you’ll find an expansive dining room serving an all-day dim sum menu that also includes Cantonese-style BBQ and other shareable dishes. Some staples, like the shumai, beef fun rolls, and fluffy-not-too-sweet pork buns are pretty good, while others, (we’re looking at you, egg yolk bun that tastes like a Jewel-brand sugar cookie), are not. Since New Furama isn’t as busy as popular Chinatown dim sum spots Triple Crown and Phoenix, keep it in mind as a viable alternative." - Veda Kilaru
