"There’d be a Pearl 6101 on the corner of every neighborhood in town if we had our way. The Richmond is lucky to have this place. The Mediterranean-ish bar and restaurant is the poster child for sexy date nights and “quick” catch-ups with friends that turn into extra-long meals with multiple rounds of cocktails. The globe lights are always dim and romantic, the leather booths are cushy, and the tall white walls make the dining room feel airy. The seasonal dishes alone are what you want on hand when you decide to stay for two more hours. Dishes rotate, but the rich white bolognese over silky handkerchief pasta and the chicory caesar covered with crispy fried prosciutto are permanent mainstays, and what we always come back for. photo credit: Melissa Zink Food Rundown photo credit: Melissa Zink Kanpachi Crudo What goes on the fish changes seasonally—think strawberries and nuoc cham, or coconut, grapefruit, and avocado. Whatever version you get will be fresh and well-balanced. Order for the table. photo credit: Melissa Zink Chicory Caesar In our scientific opinion, adding fried pork to anything makes it 150% better. Pearl 6101 knows this well, which is why their caesar has officially cemented itself as a neighborhood legend. It’s finished off with salty fried prosciutto and shaved parmesan, and should be on your table at all costs. photo credit: Melissa Zink Handkerchief Pasta This dish is always on the menu, and we’re grateful for it. The white bolognese is saucy and decadent but not too heavy. Coming here for a glass of wine and a bowl of this pasta is a power move we can always get behind. Balsamic Glazed Pork Chop A glittering, gorgeous specimen. Compared to other notable pork chops around town (looking at you, Nopa), this one is on the cheaper end at $30, but just as excellent. The edges are caramelized and sweet, and each bite goes perfectly with tart stone fruit relish on the side." - Julia Chen
