"A few things things that scream America: the 4th of July, Super Bowl Sunday, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Also, any John (Cougar) Mellencamp song—specifically “Jack and Diane” or “Pink Houses”. The Breakfast Club, a small restaurant on the quiet intersection of Hubbard and Noble St., is a living, breathing version of “Pink Houses.” Literally speaking, The Breakfast Club is a small house with a pink awning, but it’s not just the facade that reminds us of the song. “Pink Houses” was inspired by an old guy sitting on his tiny front porch in the middle of nowhere Indiana as the rest of the world passed him by. The Breakfast Club feels similarly stuck in time. You walk inside and immediately think this place would be better situated in a small town outside of the city, whether in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, or Michigan. The Breakfast Club is warm and homey, and it’s open every day from early in the morning until 5pm, making it ideal for a casual breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Stick to basic breakfast items like eggs, pancakes, and french toast, or spice things up with a stuffed cinnamon cream cheese french toast (which is still pretty simple). But The Breakfast Club proves there’s nothing wrong with simplicity, because that’s what makes it reliable. Food Rundown American Breakfast Two eggs, home fries, toast, and add your choice of meat. America, oh ya. Denver Omelette Large omelette stuffed with real ham, green peppers, onions, and cheese. Our go-to order in the eggs department. Pancake Sandwich The ultimate fork and knife breakfast sandwich. Alright, so it’s not really a sandwich, but more so eggs, and your choice of meat stuffed between two buttermilk pancakes. Basic but delicious. Bourbon St. Omelette This is about as wild as things get here, but we like this omelette with andouille sausage, shrimp, bell peppers, and mozzarella cheese is good. Pigs In A Blanket A childhood favorite of ours that we should eat more now that we’re old and boring. Sausage links wrapped in swedish pancakes is good every time. Stuffed French Toast If you need a bite of something sweet, give this a try, although it’s more of a bonus dish than something we’d order as a solo meal. French toast stuffed with sweet cinnamon cream cheese, topped with chopped walnuts." - Sam Faye
