"No other croissant in town matches the thunderous crunch of the one at Duchêne. It’s so intensely crispy that it feels like this place should be selling branded bibs to catch all those crumbs. Alongside the Japanese-accented pastries at the Butte-aux-Cailles bakery, these perfectly plump viennoiseries are surprisingly light, with a white interior that’s not excessively sweet. They're buttery enough to be delicious, but not so much so that you'll crash on your couch until dinner. Don't sleep on the Délice Acidulé, a house creation for almond croissant fans who want things a touch less cloying.
