"The alluring combination of vintage interiors, Sicilian dishes, and a stunning view comes together seamlessly at Irwin's in South Philly. The refurbished school-turned-Italian restaurant is a place where you could easily get caught up trying to decipher the graffiti on the wall. But then you'd miss out on the delicious raw seafood options making their way around the table. On both the main, a la carte menu and at their tasting-menu only counter, Salvatore's, you'll likely find crudos like scallop paired with preserved lemon and tender english peas, as well as ruby red tuna bathing in citrus, all topped with edible flowers. Whichever dining experience you go for, these under-the-sea dishes will not disappoint. You won't struggle to find reservations for Irwin's, but your finger may cramp reloading Salvatore's Counter reservations page for those coveted four seats. They drop the reservations during the first of the month. We suggest setting a reminder or slipping a seat on the end to see if the chef will serve you anyway." - candis mclean
