"Eleven is inside Foodland, but it’s much more swanky than you’d expect, outfitted in blond wood exuding Japanese minimalism with understated tropical accents. (But it is still a grocery store, so you can show up in shorts and flip-flops.) The cocktails get creative with ingredients like an Okinawan sugar and miso syrup and pineapple shave ice, but what’s also fun is the extensive list of whiskeys accompanied by a cheat sheet of preparations ranging from highballs to sazeracs. Handy drawings and ingredient breakdowns help those of us who don’t know our old pals from rusty nails. Eleven is not the only great bar inside the Foodland: there’s also The Bar by R. Field Wine Company, which is great for a glass of wine and charcuterie as you watch shoppers pick out chips in the snack aisle. photo credit: Laura La Monaca photo credit: Laura La Monaca photo credit: Laura La Monaca Pause Unmute" - Martha Cheng
