Puerto Rican restaurant · Soundview Bruckner

"If you were hoping for escargot and pâté en croute, you’ll have to go elsewhere. This decades-old Soundview restaurant specializes in Puerto Rican staples like pastelillos, chuletas, and chicharron de pollo. The food is nothing groundbreaking, but the staff is friendly, prices are reasonable (around $30 per person), and the whole place feels like a charming time warp to the ’70s. In a little room with rock walls and a mirrored ceiling, you can sit at a table topped with a single rose and eat some fried pork with a side of mofongo. The bar scene is also pretty lively, in case you just want to grab a drink and a snack while you watch the Mets on TV. photo credit: Bryan Kim Food Rundown photo credit: Bryan Kim Grilled Chuletas No gimmicks here. Just homey, straightforward food like these simple grilled pork chops served with your choice side. If you aren't sure which side to go with, the thick, crispy tostones are the correct choice." - Bryan Kim
