"Situated in hilly, medieval Alfama, this four-star boutique with just 22 rooms feels homelike and intimate. The complimentary breakfast is excellent, with Portuguese pastries, cold cuts, fresh fruits, omelets, and French toast. Rooms are bright and airy, with windowed doors leading to tiny balconies and a writing desk in every room so I can work before heading out. I appreciate the high-tech touches — keyless electronic doors, USB ports, wireless phone chargers, smart TVs, and Bluetooth-integrated sound systems. Bathrooms are luxurious with walk-in showers, high-quality toiletries, premium cotton towels, and comfy bathrobes and slippers. In my opinion, it’s the best place to stay in Alfama." - Matthew Kepnes
